“Fit for 55” is a package of legislative proposals that aim to put the EU on track to achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
The main elements of the package include:
- Strengthening the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) by lowering the emissions cap and increasing the price of carbon allowances.
- Introducing a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to prevent carbon leakage and ensure a level playing field for EU industries.
- Increasing the share of renewable energy in the EU’s energy mix, including a target of installing at least 300 GW of wind and solar power capacity by 2030.
- Improving energy efficiency in buildings, with a target of reducing building emissions by 60% by 2030.
- Our investment of EUR 250 Million will contribute to our 125MW installation target. We act on energy transition.
